Our story

The building still has work to do.

We are bringing a historic Locust Avenue landmark back as a living house for the people of Las Animas and Bent County.

Sanctuary windows and pews at The Fellowship

The place

A church building, a new purpose.

The Fellowship occupies the historic building at 502 Locust Ave in Las Animas, Colorado — a historic 14,221-square-foot commercial property built in 1925, formerly known as the Las Animas Christian Church. The brick, the windows, the bones of the place are worth keeping. The purpose is new.

We are not a church of faith. We do not hold worship services. We honor the building’s past by giving it a future: health, music, learning, family nights, a place of belonging.

What we believe (without a creed)

Three simple promises.

Train in the club

Members get a gym on the first floor — weights and mobility. Same building as the kitchen and the sanctuary. Train, then stay.

Create together

Music, books, food, repairs, art. Kids and adults side by side. Skill is a form of dignity, and this building should be loud with it.

Strengthen each other

A club is only as good as how it treats the person having a hard month. Membership is a commitment to the room, not a transaction.

The organization

A Colorado nonprofit.

The Fellowship was formed as a Colorado nonprofit corporation so the building and the work can outlast any one family. The first rooms underway are the sanctuary, the kitchen, and the first floor — likely the gym. Yearly membership will open when the rooms are ready — we are not taking members or dues yet.

This site is a first public face. If you want to teach, play music, or write when membership opens — we want to know you.
